Pericú

The Pericú were an indigenous people who historically inhabited the southern part of the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico, particularly the area around present-day Los Cabos and La Paz. They were known for their unique culture, which included distinct customs, traditions, and language.

The Pericú were hunter-gatherers, relying on the abundant marine resources of the Sea of Cortez and the diverse plant life of the desert region for sustenance. They were skilled fishermen and also hunted land animals such as deer and small game.

Unfortunately, much of the knowledge about the Pericú people and their way of life has been lost over time due to European contact and colonization. Today, efforts are being made to preserve and celebrate the heritage of the Pericú people through archaeological research, cultural initiatives, and historical documentation.
